May 2009

Akagera Aviation sends two pilot candidates to Universal Helicopters in Arizona for ongoing training. As part of our commitment to safety we promote recurrent and ongoing pilot training. Two of our commercial pilots are being trained to FAA commercial pilot level with instrument ratings.

During the last week of May we also presented, for the first time in Rwanda, safety oriented training for the aviation community. We presented courses in; Crew Resource Management for aircrew and for maintenance personnel, Quality Assurance Management, Flight Operations Management, Safety Officer and Dangerous Goods Awareness training.

April 2009

Akagera Aviation has just completed an exciting week of filming with world reknowned National Geographic photographer David Pluth. The filming was primarily for two projects; a major advertising campaign for ORTPN, Rwanda's tourism board and our very own promotional DVD.

Exciting air to air footage and stunning vistas of the landscapes will make for an exceptional product. Keep your eyes peeled for video streaming of our footage when its available at the end of July 2009.

February 2009

Akagera Aviation places orders for two new R44 helicopters. The first is a state of the art Instrument Procedural trainer for teaching the skills and techniques required for an instrument rating. The secondis a Robinson R44 police helicopter. This helicopter will be used for providing aerial support for the Rwandan National Police Services.

February 2009

Akagera Aviation is appointed as a Robinson Helicopter dealership and service centre. Robinson helicopter company based in Torrance California is the seller of the world's most popular helicopter, the Robinson R44.

After meeting strict requirements Akagera Aviation is appointed as East Africa's first Robinson dealer and service centre. These requirements include a financial commitment of buying a new demonstrator aircraft, staff training, minimum spares inventory and the purchase of special tools.

 Akagera can now offer the sale and maintenance of any Robinson helicopter in the region.
