Volcanoes National Park

1 Day

About Volcanoes National Park

It is one of Rwanda’s most famous national parks. It’s located in the northwest of the country and is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, making it a top destination for gorilla trekking. The park is part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, which spans Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Apart from gorilla trekking, visitors can hike to the grave of Dian Fossey (the famous primatologist), visit golden monkeys, climb volcanoes like Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke, and explore the beautiful scenery of the region. The park plays a key role in Rwanda’s conservation and eco-tourism efforts.
